Description

Philodendron melanochrysum is a species of flowering plant in the family Araceae . The Philodendron melanochrysum is from southern Brazil and is a member of the Philodendron genus, which has over 100 different species. The Philodendron melanochrysum is a beautiful tropical plant. It doesn’t get the credit it deserves. The dark green (almost black) crystalline leaves show off a bright yellow vein. The yellow vein traces its’ way through the leaf to form a unique pattern. The crystalline appearance on the leaves resemble specks of gold. In fact, “melanochrysum” means “black gold”.

It’s these attributes that created the nickname the “Black Gold Philodendron”. Like most other Philodendrons, it’s a climbing vine plant. Philodendrons are some of the most common plants grown in homes around the world. These long-living, easy-care houseplants are a great way to enjoy nature indoors.

Plant Care

• Philodendrons need to be kept in bright light but avoid direct sunlight, which will scorch their leaves and cause them to yellow
• Make sure the soil is moist but not wet. You can expect to water your philodendron melanochrysum every seven days.
• We recommend that you plant this houseplant in a pot with a drainage hole. Philodendrons require well-drained soil because they are susceptible to root decay (a type of fungal disease).
• 18 – 30°C
• The Philodendron melanochrysum requires fertilization every three months. This will provide your plant with the nutrients it needs to grow and maintain its lush green color.
