Description

The Golden Trumpet is a vigorous, evergreen vine native to tropical regions of South America. Its glossy, dark green leaves provide a lush backdrop for its showy, trumpet-shaped flowers. These flowers are a bright, sunny yellow and can reach up to 5 inches in length. They bloom prolifically throughout the warmer months, attracting pollinators like butterflies and hummingbirds. This plant is often grown as a climber or trained to grow as a shrub.

Plant Care:

  • Light: The Golden Trumpet thrives in full sun. It needs at least 6 hours of direct sunlight daily to bloom profusely.
  • Water: Water your Allamanda regularly, keeping the soil consistently moist but not soggy. During hot, dry periods, you may need to water more frequently.
  • Soil: Plant your Allamanda in well-draining soil that is rich in organic matter. Ensure good drainage to prevent root rot.
  • Temperature: The Golden Trumpet prefers warm temperatures. It can tolerate mild frosts, but prolonged cold temperatures can damage the plant.
  • Fertilizer: Fertilize your plant regularly during the growing season with a balanced liquid fertilizer.
  • Pruning: Prune your Allamanda regularly to maintain its shape and encourage new growth. You can also prune to remove dead or damaged branches.
  • Toxicity: Please note that all parts of the Allamanda plant are toxic if ingested. Keep it away from children and pets.

Remember, the Golden Trumpet is a tropical plant, so it may not be suitable for regions with harsh winters.
If you live in a colder climate, you can grow it in a container and bring it indoors during the winter months.
