Description

Azaleas, belonging to the Rhododendron genus, are prized for their showy, colorful flowers that bloom in a wide range of hues, including pink, red, purple, white, and orange. The flowers are often trumpet-shaped or bell-shaped and can be single or double. The glossy, evergreen foliage provides year-round interest, even when the plant is not in bloom. These compact varieties are ideal for smaller spaces, adding a touch of elegance to patios, balconies, or indoor settings.

Plant Care:

• Light: Azaleas thrive in bright, indirect light. Avoid direct sunlight, especially during the hottest parts of the day.
• Water: Keep the soil consistently moist, but avoid overwatering. Allow the top inch of soil to dry out slightly between waterings.
• Soil: Azaleas prefer acidic soil with a pH between 4.5 and 5.5. Use a specialized acid-loving plant fertilizer to maintain the optimal pH level.
• Temperature: Azaleas prefer cool temperatures, ideally between 60-70°F (15-21°C). Avoid exposing them to extreme heat or cold. 
• Humidity: High humidity benefits azaleas. Mist the foliage regularly, especially during dry periods.  
• Fertilizer: Feed your azalea with a balanced, acid-based fertilizer every 2-3 weeks during the growing season (spring and summer).
• Pruning: Prune lightly after flowering to shape the plant and remove any dead or damaged branches.
• Repotting: Repot your azalea every 2-3 years, using a well-draining potting mix specifically formulated for acid-loving plants.
